Anxiety Treatment

Anxiety is a normal human reaction to stressful life events or situations.  However, too much anxiety over time can become a complex and challenging problem to manage that can interfere with sleep, work, personal relationships, and overall health.  It's really important for a person suffering from anxiety to seek the assistance of a trained professional with specific expertise in treating anxiety disorders.  I generally treat anxiety disorders using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).  This type of therapy helps the patient understand how to control and change the thoughts and behaviors that create and maintain anxiety over time.  I also provide my patients with education about how anxiety creates physiological symptoms and we focus together on how to reduce these unwanted symptoms.  If you or a loved one is experiencing any of the following symptoms, it may be helpful to schedule an evaluation with me:

- Constant worry
- Restlessness
- Trouble Sleeping
- Racing Thoughts
- Muscle tension
- Difficulty concentrating
- Feeling keyed up or on edge
- Persistent irritability
- Fear of speaking in public
- Experiencing panic attacks
- Fears of people, objects, or places
- Chronic fatigue
- Fears of gaining too much weight
- Desires to collect certain objects/hoarding
- Avoidance of specific places, thoughts, or activities
- Intrusive flashbacks
- Binge eating
- Obsession with particular numbers, objects, routines, or rituals
- Intrusive strange or graphic thoughts
- Compulsions to engage in activities or rituals that others find odd
